dc.description.abstract The practice of pastoral diagnosis is subjected to critical reflection from a post structuralist perspective. Instead of generalised statements about pastoral diagnosis, the works of two South African pastoral theologians, Jan de Jongh van Arkel and Daniel Louw, are discussed. After a description of the structuralist/post-structuralist discourse and the implications thereof for diagnosis, the works of the two before mentioned theologians are scrutinised from a post-structuralist viewpoint. en_US
