Abstract:
Photograph depicting an escritoire once in the possession of Mrs. Purcell, but now housed in the Africana Museum, Johannesburg. It has a decorative cornice and four drawers, the fronts of which are shaped in plan. It is the same piece shown in Fig. 120 on p. 98, and Plate 27 on p. 100, of the 1960 edition of "Eighteenth Century Furniture in South Africa" by G.E. Pearse. See also description on page 89.
