dc.description.abstract Women are playing in a world where the rules of the game were not designed with them in mind. As a result, women continue to remain underrepresented at senior and top management levels. Progress has been made to elevate women, however to contribute to the change in pace that is required it is important for women, through the process of introspection, to decipher what is required to help them to succeed in this corporate environment. It is no longer enough for governments and businesses to restore gender parity at senior leadership levels, it is imperative for aspiring women to take the necessary action to equip themselves for leadership by taking ownership of their career development. en
