dc.description.abstract In this work, the water vapor flow across a demister in a flash chamber is simulated. An important desirable feature of a demister is low pressure drop and high separation efficiency. Thus the pressure drop of a demister is analyzed with variations in channel velocity magnitude, channel velocity profile and viscous and inertial resistance to determine their effects. The effect of demister wire diameter on performance is also studied. Results obtained from Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modelling are validated using experimental data and/or empirical correlation available in the literature. en_ZA
