dc.description.abstract Champetre is an events catering business that specialises in on- and off-premise catering and runs a day spa at their facility. This promising business began in February 2009, and management has identified a need of improving certain business processes ever since. Efficient booking procedures and processes, which involve managing and controlling resources, are not in place. Information is not strategically used as a key resource within the organisation. Many of the processes which could be automated are carried out manually and ineffective computer software is currently being used. The aim of this project was to identify specific problem areas or areas of opportunity relating to Champetre’s booking procedure as well as their resource management and controlling processes. An information system can assist in improving the identified areas of opportunity, while incorporating the client’s detailed requirements. The proposed system will improve Champetre’s current processes which could in turn result in higher profit. The automated system will allow system users to spend more time dealing with customers and focusing on the value-adding processes of the business. en
