dc.description.abstract This article investigates the variables (principles) that can be used as criteria to enrich the static, physical model of space in the built environment. The social reading of place-making is excluded in this study. This is decided in order to isolate spatiality to determine whether place with a strong historical character and symbolism can qualify as a meaningful place when new developments are included in an integrated design. The physical attributes of space are examined as variables, focusing on both architectural and urban interiors. Theories on place and place-making support the investigation, by including spatiality and historicality. The Constitutional Court sets the location (place) for this investigation. en
