Abstract
Description
Clinical history : A 26 year old female in a terminal stage of aneurysm, shock, sweating and jaundice.
She has become progressively weak and had 12 hours prior to her death.
Autopsy findings : 1. Typhoid ulcer of Peyer's plaques in the small intestine with lymphoidal hyperplasia of the small and large intestines.
2. The spleen weighed 250g and the parenchyma and lymphoidal follicles are reasonably prominent.
3. The mesenteric lymph nodes and the lymph of the porta hepatis had become enlarged.
4. The kidneys appeared to have acute tubular necrosis.
5. The liver histology presented with focal necrosis.
Diagnosis: Typhoid fever
