Description
Clinical history : An 81 year old female with terminal weakness of the arms and legs due to myxedema.
Investigation showed that the patient presented with aortic valve stenosis with muscle weakness including the facial muscles.
A clinical diagnosis of demyelinating neuropathy with cardiomegaly due to aortic stenosis was made.
Autopsy findings : 1. Senile aortic valve stenosis.
2. Left ventricular hypertrophy.
3. Demyelination of the peripheral nerves with mural atrophy.
Diagnosis: Senile aortic valve stenosis
