Abstract

Description

Clinical history : A 33 year old male with swelling in the neck and a superior mediastinal syndrome.
Investigation shows signs of lymphadenopathy of the neck and multiple enlarged glands in the mediastinum with obstruction of the superior vena cava.
Histology of the glands showed metastatic carcinoma.
Autopsy findings : 1. Peripheral large cell carcinoma of the posterior basal segment of the inferior lobe of the right lung.
2. Multiple metastasis in the mediastinal glands and cervical axial lymph nodes.
Diagnosis: Peripheral large cell carcinoma in lower lobe of the right lung
