Description
Clinical history : A male patient 60 years of age suffered severe backache and was treated for intervertebral disc lesion.
He developed clinical signs of bilateral pneumonia and died suddenly.
Diagnosis of pulmonary embolism was made.
Autopsy findings : 1. Peripheral carcinoma of the medial aspect of the upper lobe of the left lung.
2. Lymphatic extension of tumour, partial bronchial obstruction and focal bronchiectasis.
3. Lymph node metastases in tracheobronchial nodes in hilus of lung.
Diagnosis: Peripheral bronchial adenocarcinoma with lymphatic extension bronchiectasis and atelectasis
