Description
Clinical history : A 22 year old white female patient with history of epilepsy was admitted to hospital in an acute ill state. Anaemia, high fever and signs of heart failure developed. A positive L.E. cell phenomenon was demonstrated and the clinical diagnosis of systemic lupus erythematosus.
Autopsy findings : 1. Systemic lupus erythematosus.
2. Myocardial fibrosis.
3. Infarction in brain and spleen.
4. Multiple small fibrin thrombi in vessels of myocardia, brain, spleen and kidneys.
Diagnosis: 1. Systemic lupus erythematosus.
2. Lupus nephritis.
3. Libman-Sachs endocarditis.
4. Multiple fibrin thrombi in small vessels
