Description

Clinical history : A 67 year old male with large swelling posterior to the manubrium sterni.
The patient presented with respiratory obstruction and a radiograph showed a large retrosternal mass.
The possibility of a retrosternal thyroid was considered.
A large aneurysm was found during investigation and an aortogram showed the bronchiocephalis arteries protruded.
Autopsy findings : 1. A large aneurysm of the bronchiocephalic arteries with clots.
2. Syphilis aortitis.
Diagnosis: Aneurysm of the bronchial artery with syphilitic aortitis
