An optimal choice of the content is an important aspect of the design of safe sex
documents. The psychology of safe sex may contribute to optimal decisions on
the content of effective documents on aids prevention. This article shows how a
psychological analysis of safe sex behaviour contributes to a deliberate choice on
the content of safe sex documents. Results are presented of a psychological
analysis of the beliefs of South African and Dutch female students about the use
of condoms. Clear differences between the two groups exist, which may be related to the marked differences in safe sex behavior between the two groups. Implications for the optimal content of safe sex documents are discussed. |
