dc.description.abstract The choice for the farewell discourse of Jesus with his disciples in Joh.13:1-17:26 is been made, because the researcher is been convinced that there are an important resemblance for the preaching in the guiding and caring of the person with cancer on the one hand, but also an important resemblance to the person with cancer, which will be guide and care for through the preaching. In chapter 1 there is a short description of the background for initiating this study and in chapter 2 the metaphor for journey has been developed and generated for the course of this research. In the basis theoretical section (respectively chapters 3 and 4) the farewell discourse of Jesus to his disciples is been studied with the eye on the identification of perspectives for the preaching in the guidance and care for the person with cancer. Also in this division the homiletics been researched for the identification of perspectives for the person with cancer in the guiding and caring through the preaching. In the meta-theoretical section (chapter 5) there was a move to the close resources for the constituting of important perspectives for the person with cancer in providing guidance and care through the preaching. In the empirical section (chapter 6) the data was collected through the method of non-constructional interviews with the persons that are living with cancer. This data is been used to shine light on the guiding and caring through the preaching to the person with cancer. In the practical theoretical section (chapter 7) the basis theoretical perspectives and the meta-theoretical perspectives were integrated with the goal of the formulation of a practical theory for the preaching in the guiding and caring for the person living with cancer. In the last section (chapter 8) there is a short summary about the results and a suggestion for future research. en_ZA
