The culture and assertiveness of American university librarianship was also very obvious and reason for reflection. The metaphor of a tree that is floating in the clouds was used and it was concluded that we should pay more attention to the trunk (mindset and identity) and to grounding the roots (theory and philosophy of librarianship). Our skills and technology applications should be based on these.2 page MS Word document with presentation notes and discussion.PDFenUniversity of PretoriaAcademic librarianshipInternational library conferencesAssociation of College and Research LibrariesACRLLibrary trendsResearch supportLibrary science -- PhilosophyComparative librarianshipResearch libraries -- MarketingHigh technology and educationAcademic librariesAcademic librarians -- Faculty statusACRL conferenceText
