[http://www.ajol.info/journal_index.php?jid=37&ab=jlt]0259-9570http://hdl.handle.net/2263/13877The New Sepedi Dictionary is a concise translating bilingual dictionary. Even though the compilers claim that this dictionary is very user-friendly, this can be queried. Accordingly, the main aim of this article is to test the usefulness of this lexicographic compilation. The discussion is restricted to the English–Sepedi part as Sepedi is the target language. A study of the dictionary articles, spelling, unnecessary loanwords, corresponding words, coinages, hyphenated words, repetition of words and inconsistencies display the deficiencies in this dictionary. As a result, it is recommended that the dictionary should be duly revisited and revised.enSouth African Asociation for Language TeachingUser-friendlyNew Sepedi dictionaryNorthern Sotho language -- Dictionaries -- EnglishEnglish language -- Dictionaries -- Northern SothoTranslating and interpreting -- DictionariesNorthern Sotho language -- Translating into EnglishLanguage and languages -- Orthography and spellingQuerying the claim of the user-friendliness of the New Sepedi DictionaryArticle
