2025-11-272025-11-27http://hdl.handle.net/2263/106578Clinical history : A 60 year old female patient with complaints of blushing and bronchial spasms.On examination an abdominal tumour was found and the urinary excretion of HlAA (hydroxy-indol acetic-acid) was raised.At operation the diagnosis of gastric carcinoid tumour was made.Chemo- and radiotherapy was given but the patient's condition deteriorated and terminally diarrhoea was present.Autopsy findings : 1. Medullary carcinoma of both lobes of the thyroid gland.2. Tumour metastases in liver, lymph nodes, bones, lungs and secondary infiltration of stomach from peri-gastric lymph nodes metastases.Diagnosis: Medullary carcinoma of the thyroid gland with widespread metastases causing diarrhoea, blushing and bronchial spasmM813: 1.
