Guerson, L.Hoffman, D.2022-09-292022-09-292022https://repository.up.ac.za/handle/2263/87386Papers presented at the 40th International Southern African Transport Conference on 04 -08 July 2022Vehicle overloading causes premature deterioration of road investments and poses a threat to road safety. To remedy this situation, the Brazilian government invested in Weigh-in-Motion (WIM) developments that resulted in the modernization and diversification of the vehicle overload control strategies in the country. The objective of this presentation is to help countries in the African continent to modernize their weigh enforcement strategies, by sharing the experience of Intercomp and Fiscal Tech in Brazil. The presentation shows the Intercomp WIM sensors and scales in action, as part of full solutions developed by its partner integrator Fiscal Tech. The solutions developed by Fiscal Tech with Intercomp scales and sensors currently support 3 modes of WIM for direct enforcement in Brazil: Fixed LS-WIM; Mobile LS-WIM; and HS-WIM for preselection and for direct enforcement. The target audience for this presentation are African stakeholders with influence over the modernization of vehicle overload control in their respective countries. By sharing this experience, Intercomp and Fiscal Tech invite these local stakeholders to discuss the implementation of similar strategies in the African continent.1 pagesPDFen©2022 Southern African Transport ConferenceWeigh-in-Motion (WIM)BrazilThree different strategies of weigh-in-motion (wim) for direct enforcement: the experience of intercomp and fiscal tech in brazilArticle
