According to Dr Kate May, coordinator of the PD Challenge and manager of the Skills Lab, this year students were divided into two groups based on their competence in cattle transrectal palpation. The PD Challengers went straight into the final rounds for both beef and dairy cattle. The Qualifiers were given additional palpation opportunities and “cow-side” feedback to help improve their palpation skills.
