His parents were Frederik Christoffel Eloff (1850 - 1924) and Elsie Franzina Eloff, née Kruger (1852 - 1924), one of Paul Kruger’s daughters. Eloff’s mother and father died within four weeks of one another and this was a heavy loss for the artist to bear.
