This paper focuses on one aspect of the SETRM, namely: the research, development and innovation (RDI) opportunities for the national system of innovation. It describes the overall approach, with process and output, which began with the completion of a baseline desktop study, followed by a number of workshops focused on the trends and market opportunities for South African RDI.
