Specifically, the unique understanding of the day of the Lord enhances the eschatological focus of the author. By discussing the issues of the possible opponents of the author, the literary form, as well as authorship, the document is placed in a specific historical phase within the development of eschatological thought within the church, namely a time of scepticism about the delay of the parousia and consequent ethical decay.AfrikaansFaculty of Theology, University of Pretoria2 PeterDay of the LordBible -- N.T. -- Peter, 2nd -- Criticism, interpretation, etc.EschatologyJudgment Day -- Biblical teachingUnieke nuansering van "die dag van die Here" in 2 Petrus en die eskatologiese gerigtheid van die dokumentEschatology and "the day of the Lord" in 2 PeterArticle
