To be admitted lo the global market, companies must comply with international environmental standards. In order to ascertain the level of commitment of the South African business community to the concept of sustainable development, surveys were undertaken during August 1993 to January 1994 as well as April to May 1995 among Soudi African companies listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange.
