The S-CPT is a dynamic assessment procedure, based on various cognitive theories. It was found that South African learners with epilepsy are in need of and benefit from mediated learning experiences as these enable them to reach a higher level of cognitive functioning. Preliminary findings suggest that the S-CPT may be implemented successfully not only to assess learners with epilepsy, but also to facilitate realisation of their cognitive potential on a higher level, as well as identify their special needs more clearly and plan meaningful and effective learning support strategies accordingly. The potential significance of dynamic assessment procedures within the context of outcomes-based and inclusive education is thus emphasized by this study.91274 bytesapplication/pdfAfrikaansSuid Afrikaanse Akademie vir Wetenskap & KunsSwanson Cognitive Processing TestEpilepsyLearners with epilepsySouth AfricaIntermediate phaseCognitive learning theorryEpileptic childrenBruikbaarheid van die Swanson Cognitive Processing Test vir Suid-Afrikaanse leerders met epilepsiePotential usefulness of the Swanson Cognitive Processing Test for South African learners with epilepsyArticle
