Phage typing of 187 isolates of S. aureus showed that a small proportion of udder infections was caused by "human" strains of S. aureus and the majority by "bovine" strains. A total of 35 different phage patterns was determined. The majority of S. aureus isolates (78,3%) lyzed by phages were resistant to one or more antibiotics at high test levels.en_ZA
