Description

Clinical history : A new born child who was disproportionatley via C-section.
36 hours after birth refused to feed an dinvestigation shows there was tachycardia and gallop rythymn and the liver was large and entended to the umbilicus.
The patient was pale and although the hemoglobin level resulted in 88% and a clinical diagnosis of myocarditis was made.
Autopsy findings : 1. Left heart syndrome:
a)Atresia of the aortic and mitral valve.
b) Hypoplasia of he left ventricle and left atrium.
c) Hypoplasia of the ascending aorta.
d) Persitent ductus arteriosus.
Diagnosis: 1. Left heart syndrome- athresia of the aortic and mitral valves, hypoplasia of the left ventricle and atrium, hypoplasia of the ascending aorta and persistent ductus arteriosus.
2. Horseshoe kidney
