Description

Clinical history : A 57 year old male with dyspnea which was very aggravated and readiographs show a left pleural effusion.
After aspiration, a mass in the area of the left basal pleura was seen and a biopsy of the pleura was done which resulted in an anaplastic mucus secreting carcinoma.
The patient was treataed with Cobalt 60 and cytostatic treatment.
Autopsy findings : 1. Diffused infiltration of the left pleura with tumor tissue.
2. Metastatic tumor infiltration of the right pleura and pericardium, the right lung, brain, liver, kidney, mediastinal lymph nodes, adrenal glands and vertebras T12 and T3.
3. Multiple pulmonary embolism.
Diagnosis: 1. Malignant pleural mesothelium.
2. Pulmonary embolism
