Description
Clinical history : A 48 year old female with a 9 year history of mitral stenosis.
Two valvotomies were done without success and later a total mitral valve replacement was done.
The patient had developed post-operative acidosis.
Autopsy findings : 1. Aneurysm of the artificial mitral valve.
2. Chronic rheumatoid myocarditis.
3. Chronic venous congestion.
Diagnosis: Artificial mitral valve in a patient with mitral stenosis and a large left atrium
