This study has interrogated the social corporate initiatives with specific reference to Corporate Social Responsibility and Crating Shared Value. The aim of this study was to investigate these two theories where they are implemented in a multinational, vertically integrated company and integrate any variables that might differentiate the theories. The study considered variables such as the practitioners experience of the theories in practice, the beneficiaries and the means of beneficiation and lastly the values realised through the implementation of the theories. The findings of the study mostly align with literature but does contribute additional findings that addresses the reported knowledge gaps of providing empirical data to distinguish between CSR and CSV. This research finally highlights its value of the findings presented to business and business decision making and ultimately proposes two definitions for CSR and CSV that clearly differentiates between the theories.en_US
