Abstract

The study of organisational climate within an organisation makes a valuable contribution to the organisation as it is indicative of the individual’s perception of the mental and emotional impact of the work-environment on his or her well-being (James et al., 2008). Organisational climate is therefore predictive of organisational performance (Patterson, Warr,&West, 2004). Several previous studies have found that organisational performance can be influenced by organisational climate and that it is therefore important to measure organisational climate. The Organisational Climate Measure (OCM) is a valuable instrument for the measurement of organisational climate but it needs to be validated for the specific sample it is applied to in order to ensure that accurate conclusions can be drawn from the results. This research study aimed to establish the construct validity of the OCM.
