A diagnostic analysis was conducted to understand the operational delays in the fruit industry's supply chain exported from the Port of Cape Town. The analysis included delays at the port (wind delays, operational delays, and delays caused by the truck booking system) as well as delays in the supply chain from the port to the end user and back to the port. Key recommendations were identified to improve efficiencies at the port and to manage the supply chain by introducing a standard operating procedure.
