Abstract
Epistemology is traditionally devoted to the study of the justification or the evaluation of
the beliefs we have on the basis of some given body of evidence. Epistemology in
library and information studies questions its assumptions and methods in order to test
the reliability of its knowledge claims and to eliminate false claims and errors in models
and theories.
