Abstract

Description

Clinical history : A 25-year old woman with two year history of leg pain.
Radiological examination showed osteoporosis and clubbing of fingers.
Blood tests showed raised calcium value 12mg. % and phosphate 1. 9mg. % and diagnosis of hyperparathyroidism was made.
Surgical exploration of neck revealed parathyroid adenoma which was removed.
Post operative cardiac failure did not respond to treatment
Autopsy findings : 1. Focal myocarditis.
2. Severe osteoporosis and slight osteomalacia and osteitis fibrosa.
3. Nephrocalcinosis.
Diagnosis: Hyperparathyroidism with osteoporosis, osteomalacia and osteitis fibrosis
