Description
Clinical history : An 11 year old female with pronounced hepatosplenomegaly and ascites with a liver biopsy showing post-necrotic liver cirrhosis.
Autopsy findings : 1. Absence of the hepatic portal vein.
2. Thrombosis of the branches of the hepatic vein.
3. Chronic congestive fibrosis of the liver.
4. Oesophageal varsices.
5. Massive internal tract bleeding.
Diagnosis: Chronic congestive fibrosis with expanded intra-hepatic thrombosis as a result of hepatic vein ostia
