dc.description | Papers presented at the 38th International Southern African Transport Conference on "Disruptive transport technologies - is South and Southern Africa ready?" held at CSIR International Convention Centre, Pretoria, South Africa on 8th to 11th July 2019.
dc.description.abstract | This paper considers the challenges for major African cities to provide a better public transport service for the passengers that rely on multiple networks on a daily basis. It recognises that the long-term goal of many cities is to provide an integrated transport network, a goal that will be difficult to achieve any time soon, and discusses how current card-centric, closed loop systems could implement Account Based Ticketing platforms to provide a frictionless, integrated transport experience and a step towards Mobility as a Service.
