Software was written to process shallow reflection seismic data on a Hewlett-Packard microcomputer. The technological advances made in the microcomputer industry in the last few years make it possible to process higher volume data on microcomputers than were possible a few years ago. Microcomputers are the ideal tools for plotting data, shifting plot axes, extracting data subsets and performing repetitive numerical calculations to enhance seismic data. Programs were written and developed to restore seismic amplitude losses, correct for the near surface, attenuate frequency dependent noise, do velocity analysis, correct for source - geophone offset I (normal moveout), stack common midpoint data and plot the final seismic section. A ray-tracing program was written to model simple geological models as well as a program to generate a synthetic common midpoint gather.
