Abstract

Growth brings about change and change has a potential of disrupting a system that was otherwise operating on known constraints. Therefore with changes in the resources for a system comes an inevitable necessity for adjustment to the system. When the Centre of AgriBusiness and Entrepreneurial Training at the North West University received funds from the department of education, they decided to embark on a project to expand their small piggery into a self sustaining (possibly profitable), commercial piggery as well as turn it into an advance piggery that best simulate a commercial farm for the benefit of the students. This report is focused on the facility layout plan for the proposed piggery, as well as business rules that need to be established to achieve a profitable and functional piggery.
