The objective of this treatise is to establish whether the building regulations of South Africa create disabled friendly buildings. The building regulations will be assessed to determine whether these regulations can be improved upon. The approval process of new buildings will be discussed to determine if strict adherence to create disabled friendly buildings is ensured for new buildings. The conversion of existing buildings into disabled friendly buildings and the cost implication thereof will also be discussed. Finally, the building regulations of South Africa are compared to the United Kingdom’s building regulations.en_US
