A review of various real time temperature monitoring devices available for use in underground coal mines in Queensland was conducted. To investigate the fit-for-purpose of the intrinsically safe (IS) instrument, laboratory experiments were performed. The obtained results were compared to the calibrated reference instrument readings and sling psychrometer data under variation in air flow velocity, moisture content and dust content.en_ZA
