Building Information Modelling (BIM) is the process of generating and managing building data during its life cycle. Over the past decade Building Information Modelling has been implemented in various countries, and is rapidly expanding in the construction industry. Countries that have taken the initiative to implement the system are already able to see the advantages the system offers. This research project focuses on the different BIM products available, the advantages and disadvantages of BIM and the implementation strategies of BIM in various countries. This is to see what BIM offers the market, and if it is necessary to implement this system in South Africa. It also tries to establish how this system should be implemented and when it should be implemented.en_US
