Unpacking the city of Johannesburg's spatial development framework 2040, with reference to the integration of land use and transport

Abstract

The presentation will unpack the City of Johannesburg’s recently updated Municipal Spatial Development Framework 2040 (SDF2040). The framework is centred around the notion of spatial transformation, founded on the principles of equity, justice, resilience, sustainability, and urban efficiency. The discussion will cover the SDF2040 development process and will elaborate on the extent to which it addresses the transportation challenges arising from the City’s spatial configuration.
