The objective of this treatise is to find out whether or not it is possible to take a proactive approach and improve the current living conditions of the informal settlers whilst waiting for the construction of low cost housing. This is because the living conditions of informal settlers here in South Africa is not up to standard. This housing poverty is best exemplified by the sprawling slums and informal settlements on the peripheries of almost every city and town.en_US
