Abstract

Elevation, with plaster and joinery details, of the gates at Rustenburg in Rondebosch, Cape Town. Drawn by John Fassler from measured drawings by Charles Roxburgh for prof. Geoffrey Pearse's book "Eighteenth Century Architecture in South Africa" – see page 44 for a description, and Plate 67 for the drawing. The Neo-Classical gate posts display pilasters and an entablature of the Doric order.
