| dc.description.abstract | Paper presented at the 20th Annual South African Transport Conference 16 - 20 July 2001 "Meeting the transport challenges in Southern Africa", CSIR International Convention Centre, Pretoria, South Africa. ABSTRACT: The authors outline the principal considerations that gave rise to the establishment of the Johannesburg Roads Agency (Pty) Ltd. They also provide a description of the powers and functions of the Agency and certain details regarding its establishment. A major consideration was the allocation and “ring fencing ”of staff from the Roads and Stormwater Departments and Sub-Clusters from six former local and metropolitan authorities to the Agency. The submission will also provide insight into selected key performance indicators that are being developed for the structure. | en_US |
