Abstract

Heat stress continues to be a major economic issue for the poultry industry, particularly for modern commercial strains. Genetic selection for high-yield broilers has led to a disproportionate increase in body mass relative to body surface area, which has resulted in reduced heat dissipation and higher basal body temperatures.
