Abstract

The Afrotropical representatives of the genus Sylligma Simon, 1895 are revised. The genus belongs to the subfamily Dietinae and is known only from the Afrotropical region. Individuals are found in both vegetation and on the ground, but are rarely encountered. The genus Sylligma is redescribed and an identification key is provided for the six species that are recognized, of which four are new, namely, S. franki (♀, ♂), S. ndumi (♀, ♂), S. spartica (♂) and S. theresa (♀, ♂). The males of S. lawrencei Millot, 1942 and S. hirsuta Simon, 1895 are described for the first time.
