Abstract

Education (child rearing in the family as well as institutional education) has come under immense pressure with regard to the demands and influences of our rapidly changing, problematic and complicated society. We experience problems with regard to education more intensely than ever before. There are many problem areas that set a challenge to our educational institutions. Our two most important educational institutions, viz. the family and the school, do not, however, function adequately with regard to these problems, demands and expectations.

With regard to our eductional institutions innovation, adaption and the extension of opportunities have become a necessity. High quality education must make a positive contribution to our social systems. With regard to family problems, strategies for aiding families should be designed and implemented.

The educationist has the urgent task of making a significant contribution towards solving the problems of our society. The progress and well-being of our whole society should be guaranteed through education.
