This is the penultimate issue of the SAJP with me as editor (as readers may be aware, Prof. Anthony Pillay will assume editorship from 1 January 2013). In this issue, I would like to air an issue that has been troubling me increasingly in recent years. I will begin by sharing a few thoughts on my experiences as a researcher in disadvantaged areas in South Africa and then relate these experiences to the question of children’s rights. More particularly, I will deal with the plight of so many children in the country and suggest ways of improving their situation. I will then briefly review the contributions of a general nature in this issue.en_US
