This presentation gives an overview of how Figshare and ORCID can be linked. The presentation starts with an introduction to persistent identifiers, and specifically DOIs and ORCID. It then touches on the research process and research data lifecycle and the role of persistent identifiers in them. The presentation then emphasizes the relationship between Figshare, DataCite and ORCID. This is followed by a description of the process that can be followed to authorize ORCID to DataCite. Following this the presenter explains, with screenshots, how to link a Figshare account to ORCID. Examples are also shown of how ORCID will look on a researchers' public profile on Figshare. The presentation concludes with a slide on the value of syncing Figshare with ORCID.en_ZA
