Abstract

Description

Clinical history : A 3-month old female baby had accessory toes and at examination a large head was found.
Hydrocephalus was diagnosed and ventriculo-atriostomy performed.
Cyanosis developed and pulmonary hypertension with right ventrical cardiac enlargement and following pulmonary embolism was diagnosed.
Autopsy findings : 1. Ventriculo atriostomy with thrombus in catheter in right atrium as well as through the foramen ovale into the left atrium.
2. Thrombo-embolism in main pulmonary arteries on right side.
3. Angiogram of the left lung showed no vascular occlusion.
4. Multiple fibrin thrombus in both lungs.
5. Absence of corpus callosum and midbrain with porencephaly.
Diagnosis: 1. Pulmonary embolism
2. Absent corpus callosum with porencephaly
